Out of Commission Dorks

Hi! Chef Mama Lori posting here on behalf of the dorks.

If you are not a part of the Traveling Dork Sisters and wonder why there has not been a challenge for some time, I thought I'd share a bit of what is happening. I hope it is okay with the other dorks to be posting this here.

Just before summer, 2 of us dorks moved. That pretty much explains why we didn't do much in the way of challenges.

Some of the dorks have had ongoing health issues. This really culminated these past few weeks.

One dork had to have eye surgery and is still recuperating from that.
Another dork just had a total knee replacement and will be going through physical therapy for some weeks to get back to walking normally with the new knee.
A 3rd dork had some major dental surgery.

Then there are things like, oh, work and family.

One of our dorks, after staying home and running a day care, has just started teaching in a classroom again. She got the job one week, and by the next was in her room with students!

Several of us have celebrated wedding anniversaries recently. Okay, so maybe that has nothing to do with the challenges, but I thought I'd throw it in for good measure.

We've added some new dorks to our sisterhood recently. Hopefully we can get these challenges up & running again and our new dork sisters can join us.

Until then, happy stamping and remember: It feels good to admit you're a dork!

Challenge #3

Hi girls!
You know me the 'difficult one' in the group! LOL
You know everyone says men are simple? Well, why do we have such a hard time creating cards for them? They are so easy to please even!
I think WE create the stress ourselves! We have to be creative right!?!
I want you to think of the oldest man in your life (grampa, uncle, neighbor... whoever!) and create a card for him! Here's the twist... use the stained glass technique on it!
Here's the tutorial for the technique!
Challenge #3 - Inspiration/Technique A Stained Glass card for a Man!
May 17 - Due May 29
**Anyone reading is welcome to join the challenges with us.
We would love to see what you create as well.

Challenge #2

It's time for Challenge#2. As the Dorks already know - I have added yet another thing to my busy schedule - I have become an Avon consultant. So, while I was working on my advertisment type of thing I needed to find an image that would be a fun clickable icon to my Avon website. Well the image I found ended up being pretty interesting and fun!!

So, Challenge #2: I call this the Inspriation by Image Challenge - Use the image below - let it inspire you to make a fun card - what does it inspire you to create? Maybe the image triggers your idea, or the shapes, layout or colors - use whatever you want from the image and create your card! This card is due, of course, May 15th.

Welcome & Challenge #1

Welcome to our blog!! We are the Travelin' Dork Sisters, a group of stampers who all met through Split Coast Stampers (SCS) several years ago when some of us took part in a card swap. Since then we have been chatting up a storm, gained new friends and become a close knit group of Dorks.

This blog is our attempt to keep each other excited & encouraged about stamping. Each month we will be having two separate challenges hosted by a different Dork each time. We are giving ourselves a two week deadline to do the challenge in. And of course like all good stampers we love to show off our work and ooh and aah at each others things, so we will be posting what we create here for all the world to see. Anyone reading is welcome to join the challenges with us. We would love to see what you create as well. You can just add a link to your creation in a comment at the end of the post.

My name is Lois and I will be hosting our first challenge. I'm going to start it off easy! Since we are fast approaching May I have been thinking of some of the fun things we did as kids for May Day (May 1st). We used to take little basket and bouquets of flowers to all the elderly women in our neighborhood. Before we left we always decorated our hair with flowers and dressed up in fancy little dresses. Without fail we would end up having tea at one of the ladies houses. I often wondered if they took turns hosting us. They were so sweet & it was so much fun!

So Challenge #1: Make a card that represents May Day or something very springy. This card is due, of course, May 1st.

Have fun creating!!
